Get Ready to Defy Gravity! My “Wickedly Royal” Quilt is Almost Here!
Two more sleeps, my fellow fabric fanatics! I am absolutely bursting with excitement to finally announce the arrival of my latest quilt pattern: Wickedly Royal!
If you know me, you know my love for a good story, a bit of magic, and maybe just a touch of… well, wickedness! My newest design is a direct nod to one of my absolute favorite tales: the incredible journey of the witches of Oz in Wicked.
Wickedly Royal is a whimsical blend of the personalities and iconic styles of Glinda, Elphaba, and even a hint of the charming Prince Fiyero. You’ll see elements that echo Glinda’s sparkle and grace, touches that represent Elphaba’s strength and depth, and a dash of Fiyero’s roguish charm woven throughout.
One of the things I love most about this design is its versatility. The pattern includes instructions for the border as you see it, but I also wanted to give you the freedom to make it your own! Feel free to get creative and switch up the border to truly reflect your personal style. The possibilities are as endless as the Emerald City itself!
Now for the burning question… are you Team Elphaba or Team Glinda?
For me, I have to confess, I’ve always been firmly in Team Elphaba. Her unwavering commitment to what she believes in, her fierce determination to fight for what is right, even when it’s the hard path… that resonates deeply with me. I’ve always said, if it’s easy, it probably isn’t right. Elphaba embodies that spirit perfectly. She’s willing to forego the easy life, the popularity, for the sake of justice, and I admire that immensely.
But let’s not forget the wonderfully complex character of Glinda. While she approaches things differently, her desire to do what is right for the people of Oz is undeniable. She genuinely wants to be a good leader, a positive role model, and create a society where people feel safe and happy. Her intentions are pure, even if her methods sometimes differ from Elphaba’s.
Wickedly Royal is a celebration of these two powerful women and their intertwined destinies. It’s a quilt that I hope will inspire you to embrace your own strengths, stand up for what you believe in, and maybe even add a little bit of magic to your everyday life.
